  7. Hello! BTS started in 2013. They were young and just starting. Jungkook was in high school when he joined the group! It just amazes me how much BTS has grown as people and vocally! I am just so proud of them! They have gone so far! They helped so many people learn to love themselves! I am one of them! They learned to love themselves. The newest album inspired me to do things I have never done before and gave me hope and a whole bunch of other stuff to help me grow as a person. I am so so so SO thankful for them! Bangtan, I know you will never see this but thank you so much for helping me learn to love myself and inspiring me to be a better person. Thank you! 나는 당신을 사랑합니다, 방탄 소년들! ❤A.R.M.Y는 항상 그리고 영원히!

  10. Some people I know have pre-conceived notions about BTS and ARMY being nuisances to the twitter community. I feel bad because they don't understand that BTS is not just like any other KPOP group and ARMY is not just any KPOP fandom. I am not trying to recruit them into being an ARMY, I just want to freely express my love for BTS' art. I am an art enthusiast and now my taste is being questioned because of my love for BTS. It's so frustrating.

  20. Hello, this is Bighit Entertainment. We will announce our stance regarding <Did the Korean Wave Change...Constant ‘Agency Conflict’, Why?>, which was reported by reporter Choi Sooyeon and reporter Lee Hojin yesterday (December 9) in the JTBC Newsroom. This opinion is shared between BTS, their parents, and our company. Before we reveal our stance on the individual issues, the company, BTS, and their parents couldn’t help but ask what JTBC’s intent was by making these reports. Just as we replied to JTBC reporter Lim Jisoo’s request this afternoon, the contents of these reports are groundless. Currently, BTS and their parents are not considering taking legal actions such as filing a lawsuit against the company. The meaning of the issue with profit distribution between us and BTS that is mentioned in the article isn’t clear but currently, the company and BTS are currently talking about certain issues that will not affect our exclusive contract. If this issue was magnified and reported to seem like it is a conflict, it does not match the context of the issue at hand. We will reveal our stance on each report in the statements below: 1. Regarding the report stating that “BTS sought out legal advice from a large law firm in Gangnam regarding their shared profits with BH and will take legal action against them.” This is not true. After the news was reported, we proceeded to check with the BTS members and their parents and it was confirmed that they did seek out legal advice 2 months ago in a law firm at Gangbuk asking about part of the exclusive contract (related to the video content business). It was confirmed that this inquiry did not lead to a substantial request and the law firm in question did not give out any official advice. Since then, the company and BTS have been discussing the issue at hand and the reports claiming this issue raised a conflict is not true. In particular, the inquiries made at the time were part of numerous projects within the company and BTS. Even if issues were to arise, they would not be at the level where they would affect details in the written contract. In other words, as said in the report, it is not that we and BTS want to take legal action due to not being able to communicate on certain issues but are currently talking about legal inquiries. JTBC has, henceforth, changed their relationship on the report. For your information, we have, from the beginning, advised BTS and their parents to use outside advice from accountants and lawyers regarding finance, settlements, and law. Since the value that BTS creates increases each day, we believe that it’s natural to listen to professional advice starting from the outside as either a team member or an individual member. At the same time, we are aware of our important partnership with BTS and although mutual differences can arise at any time, we are working through them regardless of the importance through active consultation. Therefore, there is no truth to the report saying that certain issues lead BTS and their parents to consider taking legal actions against us. We can’t help but ask why they are expanding their report in this way. 2. Regarding the report saying there is a conflict between us and BTS on the distribution of profit ahead of last year’s contract renewal and that BTS couldn’t narrow the gap between them and the company so the law was looked into. This is not true BTS currently has no intention of filing a lawsuit against any exclusive contracts, including distribution of profits. We strongly regret that negative expressions such as ‘difference in opinions’ and ‘conflict’ were used as if there was a serious dispute that further encouraged conflict between the company and BTS. Upon the conclusion of last year’s contract renewal as well, the company and BTS acknowledged each other to have equal partnership. We recognize that the process of contract renewal is not that simple, seeing that BTS creates astronomical values. After a long discussion regarding BTS’ contract renewal with the company, we drew up the most exemplary contract in the industry. 3. Regarding the problem connected to reporting and the activities of reporting Immediately following the report about the company, the report <Did the Korean Wave Change..Constant ‘Agency Conflict’, Why?> aired and reported incidents of entertainment companies that are not at all related to us, making it seem as if our company also had problems. We would like to express our deepest regret for being connected to such companies that seem to have somehow connected to us to this report. Not only did JTBC not properly confirm the facts regarding what is in the company’s related report, but they also created incidents and made connections that are not related to the company. This shows a questionable level of behavior with journalism in the press emphasizing their principles. They came to our company without prior consultation and asked one-sided questions about the issue without any background explanation. They trespassed into our building where one is not allowed to enter without a pass and filmed the inside, using it for news footage. Whether they judged the report to be a problem or not, they deleted the footage that was taken secretly and posted it online afterwards. Our company, of course, has secured JTBC’s footage that was used in their first report as well as the footage of reporters trespassing into our building. As much as we should be guaranteed freedom of the press, it is the company’s position that the press also has to cover news according to correct principles. In that respect, we plan to raise a separate issue regarding JTBC’s reporting behavior. No matter what JTBC’s intention is in regard to this report, it is not true. JTBC is causing damage between our company and BTS by expanding part of their contents and relating issues that have no relation to our company. The company deems JTBC’s report to be a problematic one where they did not use even the most basic principles and we demand a sincere apology and response. Thank you. Sincerely, Big Hit Entertainment Click here to read JTBC's response to BH's statement Source
  21. Click here if you haven't read the statement from Big Hit Entertainment yet [ENG] President Son Suk-Hee (of JTBC) apologizes to both BTS and their agency, Big Hit Entertainment. On the December 16 afternoon broadcast of ‘Newsroom’, president Son Suk-Hee stated “Recently on ‘Newsroom’, it was reported that BTS considered taking legal action against their agency. The outcome of the follow-up report concluded that there is almost no chance of it actually proceeding as a legal dispute”. ‘Newsroom’ explained in a video that “In the beginning of December, issues related to BTS surfaced on the internal network at a law firm located in Gangnam. A lawyer shared content related to the issue at hand stating that even if BTS were to do a legal review or respond to Big Hits issue related to profit distribution, there would be no internal conflict of interest. The argument of conflict of interest commonly comes before a legal dispute. With this, JTBC’s side did in-depth research/coverage on lawyers and reported the probability of a lawsuit.” “However, after JTBC’s report, and after checking the result of the positions of the parties involved, it was decided that the possibility of a lawsuit was extremely low. Big Hits side stated that it is not true that there is a conflict between them and BTS and that last year, the contract renewal that was drawn out was most exemplary. According to BTS, they said that they did not request or proceed with a lawsuit against the previously mentioned law firm. The law firm in question stated that they are not in a position where they can confirm the details due to internal rules and regulations”. After the video came out, president Son Suk-Hee stated “In addition, JTBC expresses their regret for not receiving prior permission from Big Hits side when reporting about such issues and filming certain parts of the facilities (inside Big Hit). (President Son Suk-Hee) expressed his regret personally, stating that “In addition, We will seriously and humbly accept the criticism regarding getting too ahead of ourselves with the report when there was still no progress with the lawsuit”. 22. NO MORE SASAENGS PLZZZZ PLEASE STOP STALKING BTS!!!!! To start with, I’m not trying to be rude or ignoring other ARMYs. Sooooo, you guys know how BTS just had their long break for the first time after they have debuted (6 years). I’m pretty sure every ARMYs wanted them to have fun and relax during their break. BUT I have seen a controversial rumor about Jungkook’s relationship with a woman during their break. My bias is JK and I thought it was very rude to interrupt their break with these articles saying whether he is engaged in a relationship. YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE A ROMANCE RUMOR TO A KOREAN ARTIST. IT CAN HAVE CRITICAL DAMAGE TO THEIR IMAGE and make considerable number of fans to quit rooting for the celebrity. The point is that people who gives too much attention and love can hurt the celebrity. And this has let me to think about sasaeng ARMYs. Just to clear up what sasaeng fans mean for other fans, sasaeng fans are obsessed fans who are overtly interested in the private lives of K-pop idols. They frequently and intentionally intrude into BTS’s life (tracking them down, secretly taking photos of them, stalking them…). I strongly think that they should STOP what they are doing and realize that their actions to satisfy their needs hurt BTS in response. Let me first rant about sasaeng fan cases. First, remember when JK had a talk over Vlive with the fans, and it was more on a genuine, calm talk, and this one sasaeng had called JK? JK literally said, “I don’t respond to unknown numbers. If this is a fan, and this person called me to check [if the phone number is right or wrong] while I am on live, I will block the person right away. There are actually a lot of phone calls from sasaengs, so there are no other ways other than to just block them.” Check it out on JK Talk on VLive (Has English Subs!). With 4.4 million fans watching this, I am guessing that all the ARMYs were all heartbroken as much as how I was literally crying. I gotta say that all these things that JK, and all the other BTS members are going through, are too harsh and any human being should not be deserved like this. Imagine an unknown phone numbers calling you every day. Just the few spams call I get is already annoying, but tens and hundreds call? THAT SHOULD JUST BE STOPPED. Going off on this, another member also had mentioned, “Hyung (means brother in English), isn’t it a time to change my phone number? Weird people are calling me.” Isn't it a time to change the phone number? PLZZZZ sasaengs stop selling private information! Second, during one interview with ex-sasaeng fan on YouTube, she/he was talking about how they were willingly doing things like running errands for other sasaengs who are “older” to get information of BTS. ARE YOU GUYS REALLY IN NEED OF THEIR PRIVATE INFO THIS MUCH??? So the ex-sasaeng said, “the reason why illegal flight information in is so popular amongst sasaengs is because in [the airplane] situation, the members are so vulnerable [that] they can’t escape. [They] are all trapped in the same small enclosed space for hours.” This is so fxxking weird, dangerous, threatening, and uncomfortable. First of all, just because sasaengs have more information about BTS doesn’t mean that they know everything about BTS. Second of all, knowing more about BTS doesn’t mean that sasaengs gain the right to invade privacy of BTS to know more about them. It also doesn’t mean that BTS has to get to know about you in response. Third of all, all of these things that sasaeng fans are doing in the words of “love”, BTS doesn’t have to focus all of their attention on sasaengs. Stop selling private information on Instagram or on any social medias! Just imagine someone stalking you everytime everywhere and follow you to work, school, hangouts with friends, or even home. For us, it’s easier to deal with them because we can just call the police. BUT for BTS, or any other celebrities, it’s harder for them to sue them or do anything because sasaengs are hiding behind the concept of being “fans”. But let me emphasize this again, too much love or focus, and obsessive thoughts can hurt BTS. Third, I have to say that sasaengs are everywhere these days. Because BTS got so globally known (shoutout to their hard works), sasaeng ARMYs are showing up everywhere. Just an example of this is when BTS went on a tour/concert to Sweden. They were running the whole time in the streets. Why? Because sasaeng fans were following them. Hmmm, I guess it’s more like stalking them: knowing their schedules and following them according to their schedules. Let me summarize what happened in Sweden, just for other people who are not familiar with BTS. So what happened was that 1) JK and Jin were running away from sasaeng fan, 2) V also ran away from other sasaeng and had to hide inside a building, 3) Jimin and Yoongi were mad about the stalkings, 4) Jimin had to give a sign (signature) to them (facial expression = fear), and 5) RM made mistake in the dressing room, and some fans watched him. So, if you are a sasaeng, please don’t do these stuffs. (Click on the picture to see more pictures) Lastly, you guys remember when Jimin got death threats during the concert in the US? So the post read, “I’m going to shoot Park Jimin with a Glock 19 in Fort Worth on September 16 while he signs Serendipity. It’s going to be fun seeing his lifeless body hit the floor. He’s been alive way too long and always getting in the way. Why I’m telling you this? Because nothing can happen to me on cc.” (Jimin Death Threat) Just the fact that they are getting these threats in the name of “love” should be stopped. What is the point am I trying to make? That sasaengs should stop what they are doing because it’s putting negative impacts to both the fan community and to BTS. I say that the reason of their action represents the intensified parasocial relationship. The parasocial relationship are one-sided interactions between a viewer and the media figure. According to a research done, it’s pretty common for adolescents (girls) to engage in parasocial relationship because it allows them to become more toward their ideal self by learning from the media figure and raise their self-esteem (Good example is BLACKPINK, who’s girl group that people around the world tries to follow their style). Because people have no risk of being rejected by the celebrity, I think this is what makes people to be attracted by the relationship of fan-celebrity. It turns out that there are many significant benefits associated with being engaged in a parasocial relationship, including some of the things that I have mentioned earlier in the paragraph. So, it helps with identity formation and increasing autonomy from parents because the media figures become role models for them and who the adolescents can imagine total acceptance. (If interested, see the whole research done on this! Theran, 2010) Also, being more general, K-Pop has the power to change one’s identity. I guess this is one reason why one first says that they hate K-Pop, but then becomes obsessed in K-Pop because it has literally changed how they look at the society and think about themselves. Going off this, there are also researches done to show that K-Pop increases ones’ self-esteem. TMI, this might be the reason why I feel like I’m being like the main character in the song when idol groups are singing about a girl they admire. But what happens when the relationship turns into an intensified version? The outcome is likely to become sasaeng fans. What sets the fans who just engage in parasocial relationship with the obsessed ones is the discomfort or anxiety that they feel when they don’t seek in activities that are related to BTS. Because sasaeng fans relieve this discomfort and stress by devoting their life in learning every aspect of BTS’s life, the actions they take to relieve this irritation repeatedly result in privacy intrusion. BTS is especially known for having social commentary and raising self-awareness for fans around the world. Because of this reason, there might be many fans who have overcome a big obstacle in their life by listening to BTS’s songs and understanding their message that you should love yourself. And in the process, sasaeng fans might form because they might attach their love too much to BTS and eventually become obsessed. So, even if you are putting an important meaning of your life as an ARMY, you shouldn’t engage in any activities that represent intensified parasocial relationship that might be harmful to BTS and to the whole community! Thx for reading this 😊😊 Bio: jkjay I’m an ARMY and my bias is JK. I listen to their songs and mainly translate the meanings to English to my American friends. I enjoy dancing to their songs and provide comments about their albums (try to be unbiased when giving criticisms). I examined sasaeng fans’ behaviors as a type of parasocial relationship. I hope to examine more cases of sasaeng fans and also root BTS! 23. [191210 X-Sports News, Reporter - Jeon Aram] Photo: X-Sports News Group BTS will be making a comeback next year in February. According to X-Sports on December 10, it has been confirmed that BTS will be making a comeback in mid-February of 2020 and are working on their new album. Previously, BTS mentioned their comeback in their award speeches in the 2019 MAMA and US Award show "2019 Variety Hitmaker". In the 2019 MAMA awards on December 4, Jimin delivered his award speech during the 'Album of The Year'. He expressed "We are working on our new album right now and we may be able to present you with an album that is better than what you are expecting. Please look forward to it." He personally revealed that they are currently working hard on their new album. In the '2019 Variety Hitmaker' award ceremony that took place in California on December 7, BTS won the 'Group of the Year' award, the first time Korean singers were awarded it. During his speech, RM also revealed that "I want to proceed with the new album. I want to quickly release (the album) and "I hope you look forward to BTS in 2020", which raised the expectations about the new album. There is a big possibility that this new album will be BTS' last album before enlisting in the military.
